When Dave Edmunds had the metronomic sins of Jeff Lynne visited upon him.

"metronomic sins" Great description, Joe!
I doubt that I've listened to that album since two weeks after I bought it. I liked every single song he recorded up to that point.
I saw Dave about 12 years ago at the new Main Point outside Philly. He had a self-released CD of acoustic classical songs. I knew what I was getting into, so it wasn't a huge disappointment. "Sabre Dance" closed the show, I think it was the only electric song of the night. The new songs on "Again" were good, I hope he has another album soon.
I love the title song, even bought a 12" import single of it.
The D chord down to the B flat is a great move (much like The Move and ELO and used to good effect by Cheap Trick on "Stiff Competition"). And I love the "sproingy" quality of the bass, six-string bass maybe?
Information's a great song, for sure, though I still would like to hear it minus Lynne's production. I'm not a guitarist, so I don't know the chords, but I know the change you're talking about, and it's terrific.

It seems like retirement took.
